Welcome To Career and Technical Education in Pennsylvania
The Career and Technical Education Resource Center is located at Penn State Greater Allegheny.  The primary goals of the Center are to provide technical assistance to the field of career and technical education, produce print and media materials and conduct workshops and conferences.

The Center works with the staff of the Bureau of Career and Technical Education, Pennsylvania Department of Education to achieve the goals of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act.  We strive to achieve the following objectives.

  • Manage the statewide occupational testing of all completers in career and technical education utilizing the NOCTI testing and other approved tests.
  • Coordinate statewide conferences, meetings and teleconferences to disseminate information to instructors, administrators, counselors, etc.
  • Develop print informational materials to promote the Bureau’s various initiatives and activities.
  • Coordinate the Bureau’s initiative to promote educational quality utilizing the ISO:9000 Quality Management process in career and technical schools statewide.
  • Assist 23 New Choices/New Options programs statewide.
  • Coordinate statewide technical assistance to 16 consortiums and carry out activities designated by the Bureau.
  • Co-sponsor several professional development activities with the PAVESNP organization annually and provide other support.
