Our Work
The Education Resource Center is located at Penn State Greater Allegheny, near Pittsburgh, PA. The primary goal of the center is to provide technical support services to the field of career and technical education through projects funded by the Bureau of Career and Technical Education (BCTE) at the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The purpose is to increase the academic and technical achievement of high school students in over 80 career and technical education schools and 150 school districts in Pennsylvania. The center’s specific objectives are as follows:
- Technical Assistance Program (TAP):
The center coordinates TAP services to enhance the quality and outcomes of career and technical education programs across Pennsylvania. - Student Occupational Competency Testing Program:
The center supports schools in all aspects of the statewide occupational testing process for students in approved career and technical education programs. - Programs of Study (POS):
The center facilitates the development, revision, and dissemination of task lists for Pennsylvania’s 47 statewide Programs of Study. - Strategic Initiatives:
The center works with the Bureau of Career and Technical Education and other stakeholders to develop and advance innovative policies and practices that improve career and technical education quality and delivery.
